Pakistan Seeks Stronger Sovereign Rating from Moody's Amid Economic Improvement
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb met Moody's on the sidelines of the IMF-World Bank meetings, seeking a stronger sovereign rating for Pakistan. Discussions focused on the country's improved fiscal and external indicators, renewed access to international capital markets, and efforts to replace costly short-term debt. Aurangzeb also highlighted rising foreign exchange reserves and a contained current account deficit. A successful rating upgrade could bolster investor confidence, potentially strengthening the Pakistani Rupee against the US Dollar and influencing local gold prices.
