Pakistan Electricity Bills Up Rs2.56/Unit in Nov on Fuel Cost

Thursday, 15 October 2026 · 09:39 PM PKT · PakGold News Desk · 👁 14

The Power Division announced a Rs2.56 per unit hike in November electricity bills for consumers, attributing it to the fuel cost adjustment for September and the use of expensive imported fuels. This increase is expected to generate around Rs33 billion, though the division claims targeted load management averted a potentially higher surge of Rs3.44 per unit. Rising international fuel prices and LNG supply constraints were cited as key factors. While contributing to domestic inflation, this routine adjustment is unlikely to cause immediate, significant shifts in USD/PKR or local gold prices.
