Pakistan Targets Doubling SME Financing, $100B Exports by 2035
Prime Minister’s Coordinator Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan announced efforts to double SME financing to Rs2 trillion and support exporters via concessional arrangements. Addressing the PSDE conference, he highlighted the National Tariff Policy 2025–30 to rationalise duties and reduce the maximum customs duty to 15 percent, alongside reviewing 500 regulatory requirements. The government is also establishing a Trade Facilitation Board to streamline export logistics and reduce costs, targeting an export-led economy. These long-term structural reforms aim to improve Pakistan's economic stability and foreign exchange position, which could indirectly support the PKR over time, but are unlikely to have an immediate impact on gold or currency rates.
