Oil Markets Brace for Iran Escalation Amid Rising Hormuz Tensions
Global oil markets are on high alert, with Brent crude holding near $115, as geopolitical tensions involving Iran and escalating Saudi-Houthi hostilities fuel uncertainty ahead of the U.S. midterms. The Strait of Hormuz has seen a sharp increase in maritime attacks, with over 30 incidents recorded in October, up from 14 in September, including a recent strike on a crude tanker in Iraq’s waters. This heightened risk could push international crude prices higher, potentially impacting Pakistan's import bill and contributing to inflationary pressures, which may indirectly support local gold prices.
