Pakistan Targets 50% Local Value Addition in Mobile Manufacturing
Pakistan is formulating a new Mobile Device Manufacturing Policy targeting 50% local value addition, up from the current 10-20%. This initiative aims to shift the industry from import-dependent assembly towards local component manufacturing, building on previous investments. The policy seeks to reduce the mobile phone import bill, which declined by 16.6% in dollar terms in Q1 FY27, and strengthen the domestic manufacturing base. پاکستان ایک نئی موبائل ڈیوائس مینوفیکچرنگ پالیسی تیار کر رہا ہے جس کا مقصد مقامی ویلیو ایڈیشن کو موجودہ 10-20% سے بڑھا کر 50% کرنا ہے۔ اس اقدام کا مقصد صنعت کو درآمدی انحصار سے مقامی اجزاء کی تیاری کی طرف منتقل کرنا ہے، جس سے موبائل فون کے درآمدی بل میں کمی آئے گی۔ مالی سال 27 کی پہلی سہ ماہی میں موبائل فون کا درآمدی بل ڈالر کے لحاظ سے 16.6% کم ہوا ہے۔ اگرچہ یہ معیشت کے لیے مثبت ہے، لیکن پاکستانی روپے یا سونے کی قیمتوں پر اس کا فوری اثر بتدریج اور طویل مدتی ہو گا۔
