FBR Mandates Electronic Monitoring for Tyre Industry to Boost Tax Collection

Saturday, 31 October 2026 · 07:48 AM PKT · PakGold News Desk · 👁 19

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed all registered tyre manufacturers to implement electronic production monitoring systems by November 30, 2026, aiming to ensure real-time production recording and data transmission. This initiative, part of FBR's plan to close a significant Rs3.7 trillion sales tax gap, will require installation of hardware and software at production lines to track cured tyres and identify specific product details. Nine major tyre companies have been initially identified for compliance, with ISSM Labelling Solutions (Pvt) Ltd authorized as the vendor. While this measure aims to improve government revenues, its direct and immediate impact on the Pakistani Rupee or gold prices is likely to be marginal, as it represents a long-term structural reform rather than a short-term market catalyst.
