Palm Oil Falls on Record Inventories; Crude Slips on US Midterms, ME Peace Hopes
Malaysian palm oil futures fell over 1% to mid-June lows due to anticipated record-high October inventories and a decline in Dalian palm olein. The benchmark contract for January delivery slid 1.21% to 4,496 ringgit per metric ton, extending losses for a third session. Crude oil prices also slipped as investors awaited US midterm election results and potential Middle East peace talks, making palm oil less attractive for biodiesel. Lower crude prices and easing geopolitical tensions could reduce safe-haven demand for gold and potentially strengthen the Pakistani Rupee.
