NA Body Directs PSM Asset Protection; New Steel Mill, Auto Policy Planned
The National Assembly Standing Committee on Industries and Production has directed Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) to formulate a comprehensive plan to protect its valuable assets from theft. Concurrently, the Ministry of Industries and Production is proposing a new steel mill to enhance domestic production and curb Rs5 billion in steel imports. Separately, the National Auto Policy framework is in its final stages, with a formal announcement expected soon. These domestic industrial policy developments are unlikely to have a significant immediate impact on gold or USD/PKR rates.
