Nepra Hikes Industrial Tariff, Adds Rs2.37/Unit Burden on Consumers
Pakistan's power regulator, Nepra, has revised the industrial electricity tariff to Rs25.30 per unit, up from Rs22.98, despite strong dissent from two members who cited a higher actual marginal cost. Additionally, Nepra approved an extra Rs2.37 per unit charge for all consumers in their November bills to recover an additional Rs25 billion under the monthly fuel cost adjustment. These higher energy costs could fuel domestic inflation and exert pressure on the Pakistani Rupee, potentially increasing the appeal of gold as a local hedge.
