SBP Forex Reserves Drop by $229mn to $17.03bn Amid Debt Repayments
The State Bank of Pakistan's foreign exchange reserves decreased by $229 million, settling at $17.03 billion for the week ending July 24, 2026. This decline was attributed mainly to external debt repayments, as confirmed by the central bank. Total liquid foreign exchange reserves for the country stood at $22.44 billion, with commercial banks holding $5.41 billion. Such a reduction in SBP reserves could exert pressure on the Pakistani Rupee against the US Dollar, potentially influencing local gold prices.

اسٹیٹ بینک آف پاکستان کے زرمبادلہ ذخائر 24 جولائی 2026 کو ختم ہونے والے ہفتے میں 229 ملین ڈالر کم ہو کر 17.03 ارب ڈالر پر پہنچ گئے۔ مرکزی بینک کے مطابق، اس کمی کی بنیادی وجہ بیرونی قرضوں کی ادائیگیاں ہیں۔ ملک کے کل مائع زرمبادلہ ذخائر 22.44 ارب ڈالر تھے، جن میں سے کمرشل بینکوں کے پاس 5.41 ارب ڈالر تھے۔ اسٹیٹ بینک کے ذخائر میں یہ کمی پاکستانی روپے پر دباؤ ڈال سکتی ہے، جو مقامی سونے کی قیمتوں کو متاثر کر سکتی ہے۔
