SCCI Urges Govt to Address KP Trade Issues, Border Closure, Ex-FATA/PATA Taxes

Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Junaid Altaf urged Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to address key concerns for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa traders. These include the prolonged closure of the Torkham border, an illegal ban on wheat movement from Punjab, imposition of taxes on ex-FATA/PATA, and delays in Sales Tax refunds. The SCCI also stressed the need for KP representation in federal policymaking and special initiatives for tourism and investment. While these are significant regional economic concerns, they are unlikely to cause immediate, direct shifts in Pakistan's gold or currency rates.
