Transporters Threaten Aug 8 Nationwide Strike Over Diesel Prices, Taxes
The All Pakistan Goods Transporters Alliance will halt freight movement nationwide from August 8 if the government fails to address demands for reduced diesel taxes, fuel price restoration to July 1 levels, and lower withholding tax. Transporters also reject vehicle confiscation for non-duty-paid goods and seek uniform axle-load regulations. A prolonged strike could disrupt essential commodity supplies, imports, and exports, potentially impacting Pakistan's economic stability and the USD/PKR exchange rate.

آل پاکستان گڈز ٹرانسپورٹرز الائنس نے 8 اگست سے ملک بھر میں مال برداری روکنے کا اعلان کیا ہے اگر حکومت ڈیزل پر ٹیکسوں میں کمی، یکم جولائی کی سطح پر ایندھن کی قیمتوں کی بحالی اور ودہولڈنگ ٹیکس میں کمی کے مطالبات پورے نہیں کرتی۔ ٹرانسپورٹرز نان ڈیوٹی پیڈ سامان پر گاڑی ضبط کرنے کی شق کو بھی مسترد کرتے ہوئے یکساں ایکسل لوڈ ریگولیشنز کا مطالبہ کر رہے ہیں۔ طویل ہڑتال ضروری اشیاء کی فراہمی، درآمدات اور برآمدات میں خلل ڈال سکتی ہے، جس سے پاکستان کی معاشی استحکام اور امریکی ڈالر/روپے کی شرح تبادلہ متاثر ہو سکتی ہے۔
