US Crude Inventories Rise 2.5M Barrels, Stockpiles 6% Below 5-Year Average
US crude oil inventories rose by 2.5 million barrels in the week ending July 31, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). This increase brings commercial stockpiles to 407 million barrels, which are now 6% below the five-year average for this time of year. The EIA data follows a similar report from the API, which also indicated a rise in crude inventories. A continued build in inventories could signal weakening demand, potentially exerting downward pressure on crude oil prices, which in turn might influence global inflation expectations and the US dollar's strength, indirectly affecting gold and USD/PKR rates.
