Textile Sector Warns Transport Strike Threatens Pakistan Exports
The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) and Pakistan Textile Council (PTC) have alerted the Prime Minister that the ongoing strike, which began August 8, is halting movement of raw materials and finished goods, severely impacting supply chains. Transporters demand withdrawal of daily diesel price changes, reversal of toll tax hikes, and reduced withholding tax. Continued disruption risks significant financial losses, employment cuts, and reduced foreign exchange earnings. This economic pressure could weaken the Pakistani Rupee, potentially increasing local gold prices.

آل پاکستان ٹیکسٹائل ملز ایسوسی ایشن (APTMA) اور پاکستان ٹیکسٹائل کونسل (PTC) نے وزیر اعظم شہباز شریف کو آگاہ کیا ہے کہ 8 اگست سے جاری ہڑتال خام مال اور تیار شدہ مصنوعات کی نقل و حمل روک رہی ہے، جس سے سپلائی چین شدید متاثر ہو رہی ہے۔ ٹرانسپورٹرز روزانہ ڈیزل کی قیمتوں میں تبدیلی کے فیصلے کی واپسی، ٹول ٹیکس میں اضافے کی منسوخی اور ودہولڈنگ ٹیکس میں کمی کا مطالبہ کر رہے ہیں۔ اس تعطل سے مالی نقصانات، روزگار میں کمی اور زرمبادلہ کی آمدنی میں کمی کا خطرہ ہے۔ یہ معاشی دباؤ پاکستانی روپے کو کمزور کر سکتا ہے، جس سے مقامی سونے کی قیمتوں میں اضافہ ہو سکتا ہے۔
