New Zealand Approves New Oil & Gas Production Amid Energy Security Push
New Zealand Petroleum and Minerals (NZP&M) has issued a 10-year petroleum mining permit to Matahio NZ Onshore Limited for the Puka field in the Taranaki region. This move aims to enhance the country's natural gas supply for the domestic market, with the permit area also including the promising Oru prospect. The Puka field, a small oil and gas discovery from 2012, is part of New Zealand's strategy to address growing energy security concerns. While a localized supply increase, this development is unlikely to significantly impact global crude oil prices, and thus its effect on gold or USD/PKR rates in Pakistan is expected to be minimal.
