India Boosts LPG Output Amid Mideast War, Strait of Hormuz Blockade

India has mandated a 63,810 metric tons daily cooking gas production target for state and private refineries, following supply disruptions from the Middle East due to the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran and a Strait of Hormuz blockade. This move aims to ensure domestic supplies and build buffers, with targets to be updated biannually. India previously sourced 90% of its LPG imports from the Middle East. Heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, particularly involving Iran and the Strait of Hormuz, typically increase safe-haven demand for gold and could push crude oil prices higher, impacting global and Pakistani markets.
