Govt Hikes Fuel Prices, Shifts to Daily Pricing Amid Gulf Hostilities
The government has raised petrol prices to Rs331.20/litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) to Rs390.42/litre, effective August 18. This adjustment includes Rs114/litre in taxes on petrol and Rs100/litre on diesel. Crucially, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will now fix fuel prices daily, a policy change driven by renewed hostilities between Iran and the US and subsequent international market fluctuations. This move reflects ongoing geopolitical risks and their direct impact on Pakistan's energy costs. The continuous volatility in international crude prices, reflected in these domestic hikes and the new daily pricing, could exert further inflationary pressure, potentially weakening the PKR against the USD and influencing local gold rates.

حکومت نے 18 اگست سے پیٹرول کی قیمت 331.20 روپے فی لیٹر اور ہائی اسپیڈ ڈیزل (HSD) کی قیمت 390.42 روپے فی لیٹر مقرر کر دی ہے۔ اس اضافے میں پیٹرول پر 114 روپے اور ڈیزل پر 100 روپے فی لیٹر ٹیکس شامل ہے۔ اہم بات یہ ہے کہ اب آئل اینڈ گیس ریگولیٹری اتھارٹی (اوگرا) امریکہ اور ایران کے درمیان بڑھتی ہوئی کشیدگی اور عالمی منڈی میں اتار چڑھاؤ کے پیش نظر ایندھن کی قیمتیں روزانہ کی بنیاد پر طے کرے گی۔ یہ اقدام جاری جغرافیائی سیاسی خطرات اور پاکستان کے توانائی کے اخراجات پر ان کے براہ راست اثرات کی عکاسی کرتا ہے۔ عالمی خام تیل کی قیمتوں میں مسلسل اتار چڑھاؤ، جو ان گھریلو اضافے اور نئے روزانہ قیمتوں کے نظام میں جھلکتا ہے، مزید مہنگائی کا دباؤ ڈال سکتا ہے، جس سے ممکنہ طور پر پاکستانی روپے کی قدر ڈالر کے مقابلے میں کمزور ہو سکتی ہے اور مقامی سونے کی قیمتوں پر اثر پڑ سکتا ہے۔
