Enter what you own — gold (excluding stone weight), silver and cash. Your gold is valued by karat from the live 24K sarafa rate (Rs 451,181/tola), silver at Rs 6,920/tola, and zakat is 2.5% of the total if it reaches nisab.

📏 Today's Nisab — live (15 Aug 2026)

BasisWeightValue today
Silver nisab612.36 g (52.5 tola)Rs 363,300
Gold nisab87.48 g (7.5 tola)Rs 3,383,858

If your total zakatable wealth (gold + silver + cash + trade goods) is at or above the nisab you follow, and a lunar year has passed on it, zakat is due at 2.5%. The silver nisab is lower, so it makes zakat due earlier — that is why most scholars recommend it for mixed wealth.

💡 How this calculator values your gold

Rates come live from the Rawalpindi/Islamabad sarafa market — the same benchmark the PakGold dashboard shows. Your weight is converted to tola (1 tola = 11.664 g), adjusted for karat purity (22K = 22/24 of pure), then multiplied by the live 24K sell rate. Silver is valued at the live local silver rate the same way.

Zakat — Frequently Asked Questions

What is nisab and how is it calculated today?

Nisab is the minimum wealth on which zakat becomes due: 87.48 g (7.5 tola) of gold or 612.36 g (52.5 tola) of silver. At today's live rates (15 Aug 2026) that is about Rs 3,383,858 on the gold basis and Rs 363,300 on the silver basis. Most scholars advise the silver basis for mixed wealth, as it is lower and benefits more recipients.

How much zakat do I pay?

Zakat is 2.5% (one fortieth) of your eligible wealth — gold, silver, cash and trade goods — held for one full lunar year, if the total is at or above nisab. This calculator values your gold by karat and your silver at today's live sarafa rates and applies the 2.5% for you.

Is zakat due on jewellery I wear?

Schools of thought differ: the Hanafi position (followed by most in Pakistan) is that zakat IS due on gold and silver jewellery, worn or not. Some other schools exempt personal-use jewellery. Enter your jewellery here for the Hanafi calculation, and consult your own scholar for your situation.

My gold is 22K or 21K — do I still use the 24K rate?

No — zakat is due on the actual gold content. Pick your karat in the calculator and it automatically values your weight at karat/24 of the live 24K rate (e.g. 22K = 22/24 of the 24K rate). Stone weight should be excluded from the weight you enter.

When do I pay zakat?

When your wealth has remained at or above nisab for one complete lunar (hijri) year. Many people fix a date — often in Ramadan — and pay 2.5% of whatever eligible wealth they hold on that date each year, valued at that day's rates.
