Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Eye Nationwide Strike Over Unresolved Issues

The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) has called an emergency meeting for Monday to decide on a nationwide strike, citing unresolved issues with the government following a 15-day deadline expiry. Dealers are facing severe financial difficulties due to the daily petroleum price adjustment mechanism, which causes losses on existing fuel stocks and impacts working capital. Only one of five demands has been met, leading to concerns about potential disruption of petroleum product supply across the country. A widespread strike could significantly disrupt Pakistan's economy, potentially increasing inflation and putting depreciation pressure on the Pakistani Rupee, which could in turn boost local gold demand.
