قومی اقتصادی کونسل کی ایگزیکٹو کمیٹی (Ecnec) نے تربیلا پانچویں توسیعی منصوبے کی 316 ارب روپے کی لاگت کی منظوری دی، جو 2016 میں منظور شدہ 82.3 ارب روپے سے 282 فیصد زیادہ ہے۔ یہ 234 ارب روپے کا اضافہ ڈیزائن کی تبدیلیوں، ناکافی نگرانی اور مشکوک کنسلٹنسی تقرریوں کی وجہ سے ہوا، جس سے ادارہ جاتی اہلیت اور مالیاتی نظم و ضبط پر سوالات اٹھتے ہیں۔ چونکہ یہ منصوبہ بین الاقوامی مالیاتی اداروں سے فنڈڈ ہے، اس بڑے لاگت کے اضافے سے پاکستان کے قرضوں اور مالیاتی رکاوٹوں سے نمٹنے کی جدوجہد نمایاں ہوتی ہے، جو سرمایہ کاروں کے اعتماد اور پاکستانی روپے کے استحکام کو متاثر کر سکتا ہے۔
