India's Oil Import Bill Jumps 48% Amid Soaring Crude Prices
India's crude oil import bill soared by 48.4% to $74.8 billion between April and August, a $24.4 billion increase from the previous year, government data revealed. This significant jump occurred despite a marginal 0.4% decline in import volumes, primarily driven by spikes in international oil prices amid global conflicts and uneven supply flows. Sustained high crude prices could fuel global inflation, potentially supporting gold as a hedge and exerting pressure on the Pakistani Rupee.
