VLCC Rates Hit Record $1.27M/Day as Oman Crude Transfer Capacity Maxes Out
Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) rates have reached an unprecedented $1.27 million per day. This surge is due to Saudi Arabia diverting approximately 60 million barrels of crude to the Gulf of Oman for ship-to-ship transfers, following Houthi attacks on the port of Yanbu. The increased demand has maxed out Oman's transfer capacity, further tightening an already constrained crude carrier market. This development could exert upward pressure on international crude oil prices, potentially impacting Pakistan's import bill and the PKR.
