India's Sun Pharma plans $1B local debt sale amid high US yields
India's Sun Pharmaceutical Industries plans to raise 100 billion rupees ($1.04 billion) via a rupee-denominated debt sale. This is to partly fund a bridge loan for its acquisition of US healthcare firm Organon & Co. The shift to local debt is driven by higher US yields, making dollar funding significantly costlier and pushing Indian companies to domestic financing. This trend reflects global borrowing cost pressures, potentially offering indirect support to the rupee against the dollar.
