IMF Talks Near Positive End, Paving Way for $1.2bn Pakistan Disbursement
Ongoing discussions with the IMF staff mission are nearing a positive conclusion, with the Memorandum of Economic and Fiscal Policies (MEFP) being finalized. This development is expected to unlock approximately $1.2 billion from the $7bn Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and $1.4bn Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF). The Fund has made no new demands, focusing on past slippages and revenue targets, while authorities also address LNG import challenges and gas sector circular debt. This disbursement could bolster Pakistan's foreign exchange reserves, potentially stabilizing the PKR against the USD and influencing local gold prices.
