Indian Rupee Weakens on Strong Dollar, Rising US Yields; RBI Intervenes
The Indian rupee is expected to open weaker against the dollar, trading near 96.32-96.34, as long-dated US Treasury yields rise and the dollar index climbs past 102, its highest since April last year. The Reserve Bank of India is actively selling dollars to temper the rupee's decline amid persistent external pressures, including elevated oil prices and foreign equity outflows. This sustained dollar strength and rising US yields could exert downward pressure on international gold prices and potentially influence the USD/PKR exchange rate.
