Gulf Bourses Fall as Hormuz Attacks Escalate, M.East Tensions Rise

Thursday, 08 October 2026 · 07:05 PM PKT · PakGold News Desk · 👁 19

Most Gulf stock markets, including Saudi Arabia (-1.6%), Abu Dhabi (-1.6%), and Dubai (-1.7%), ended lower on Thursday after tanker attacks in the Strait of Hormuz reached a wartime high and strikes on Saudi airports intensified regional conflict. The surge in violence, coupled with stalled US-Iran diplomacy, weighed heavily on investor sentiment. Shipping traffic in the crucial oil chokepoint also took a hit. This escalation of Middle East tensions could boost safe-haven demand for gold and potentially pressure the Pakistani Rupee due to higher crude oil prices.
