Copper Falls as Strong Dollar, Oil Prices Weigh

Thursday, 08 October 2026 · 06:22 PM PKT · PakGold News Desk · 👁 21

Benchmark three-month copper on the LME fell 0.4% to $14,415 a metric ton, reversing earlier gains despite China's post-holiday return and tight supplies. The decline was driven by a strengthening US dollar, which neared an 18-month high after hawkish US Federal Reserve minutes highlighted inflation as a key risk. Rising oil prices also weighed on the market, making dollar-denominated metals more expensive for international buyers. This sustained dollar strength and the Fed's inflation stance could exert downward pressure on international gold prices and impact the USD/PKR exchange rate.
