Pakistan Sees $188M Gulf Inflows into Domestic Bonds, Boosting FX Reserves

Sunday, 18 October 2026 · 07:50 AM PKT · PakGold News Desk · 👁 20

Foreign investment in Pakistan's domestic bonds hit $188 million in the first nine days of October, with Gulf countries, notably UAE and Bahrain, showing strong interest in both T-bills and longer-term PIBs. This brings total foreign investment in government securities to $656 million since the start of the fiscal year. These significant dollar inflows offer a new source of foreign exchange for Pakistan, helping to ease pressure on the current account deficit. Such inflows could support the Pakistani Rupee, potentially dampening local gold price increases and reducing demand for USD as a hedge.
