Pakistan's Weekly SPI Inflation Up 0.65% on LPG, Chicken Price Hikes
The Sensitive Price Index (SPI) for the week ending October 22, 2026, rose by 0.65%, primarily due to a 22.44% jump in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices and a 12.2% increase in chicken. Year-on-year, SPI inflation reached 11.85%, with LPG surging 107.12% and onions 72.81%. This persistent inflationary pressure could prompt the State Bank of Pakistan to maintain a hawkish stance, potentially impacting USD/PKR stability and increasing gold's appeal as an inflation hedge.
