Oil Prices Climb Despite Middle East Export Recovery
Despite recent reports indicating a recovery in oil exports from the Persian Gulf and Red Sea, with October flows from the Middle East even higher than pre-February strike levels, crude prices have continued to climb. Instead, persistent underlying geopolitical tensions in the region are sustaining a significant risk premium. For Pakistan, sustained higher oil prices could exacerbate imported inflation and pressure the PKR, potentially increasing local gold demand as a hedge.
