Nepra Approves Rs1.11/Unit Electricity Hike for October Billing

Thursday, 08 October 2026 · 03:52 PM PKT · PakGold News Desk · 👁 18

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has approved an additional Rs1.11 per unit fuel cost adjustment (FCA), imposing a Rs16 billion burden on consumers in October billing. This adjustment for August 2026 consumption is due to expensive RLNG imports, higher coal costs, and reduced hydropower and nuclear generation. The FCA will apply to most K-Electric and ex-Wapda distribution company consumers, excluding lifeline and prepaid users. This increase in utility costs could contribute to inflationary pressures within Pakistan, potentially influencing the Rupee's stability against the US Dollar.
