UAE Stocks Fall Amid Geopolitical Uncertainty; Brent Crude Edges Up
Stock markets in the United Arab Emirates fell on Friday, driven by ongoing geopolitical uncertainty and security concerns in the region, which kept investors cautious. Abu Dhabi's benchmark index dropped 1.3% to an 18-month low, with Dubai's main index also easing 0.3%. Analysts noted that markets remain sensitive to developments, particularly regarding shipping conditions in the Strait of Hormuz. Amid these tensions, Brent crude oil prices edged up 0.5% to $98.73 a barrel. This regional instability and upward pressure on crude oil could potentially bolster safe-haven demand for gold and exert pressure on the Pakistani Rupee.
