Pakistan's Short-Term Inflation Jumps to 12.31% on Costly Food, LPG

Friday, 06 November 2026 · 05:57 PM PKT · PakGold News Desk · 👁 16

Pakistan's Sensitive Price Index (SPI) rose to 12.31% year-on-year for the week ending November 5, primarily due to significant increases in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and essential food products. The index, tracking 51 items, saw 21 commodities increase in price, with tomatoes and LPG recording the highest weekly surges. This marks several consecutive weeks of double-digit short-term inflation, indicating persistent cost-push pressures on the economy. Continued high inflation could pressure the State Bank of Pakistan for tighter monetary policy, potentially impacting USD/PKR stability and local gold prices.
